This home-made tool is used to precisely mark and drill holes in wooden blanks for the installation of dowels. For craftsmen who are engaged in the manufacture and assembly of furniture, such a homemade product will definitely come in handy.

In terms of design, the device is quite complex and requires very high precision manufacturing of individual parts, so in this case, you can not do without a CNC milling machine.

Puncher design features

First of all, a sleeve for bearings is made from a brass blank on a lathe (five bearings of the same diameter are pressed into the sleeve and fixed with a steel retaining ring).

Then, from a wooden block (it is desirable to use a dense breed of wood) on the milling machine, three identical workpieces with holes are made, which are first glued together, and then additionally fixed using small screws.

At the next stage of work, holes for threaded bushings are drilled in the finished wooden block, which must be shortened first.

Next, work is performed on the milling of metal workpieces. First, 2 plates with a marking are made, which are attached along the edges of a wooden bar. Then, two more parts with a marking and a plate with grooves are made from an aluminum billet.

Next is the assembly of the dowel. The detailed manufacturing process of the tool can be seen in the video on the website.
