What to do if there is no ax at hand, but you need to chop wood? Of course, you can go to a hardware store (if it's not far away) or go to a neighbor. But there is a better idea - you can make a "home" device for chopping firewood. Its manufacture does not take much time.
Work stages
To begin with, you will need to prepare four bars of reinforcement 18 cm long and the same 21 cm long. Of the obtained blanks, it is necessary to weld two squares (small and large). During welding, check that the bars of the reinforcement are located at right angles to each other.
Then two squares need to be connected among themselves by vertical posts of reinforcement of the same diameter, while a large square should be at the bottom of the metal structure (this will be the base), and a small one should be at the top.
Next, to the segment of the square profile pipe (in the center), you need to weld a steel plate, exposing it at a right angle with a square, and then using a grinder, sharpen its upper edge on both sides. A pipe with a plate is welded between the vertical posts diagonally at a distance of 15-20 cm from the top.
Application
This device is installed on a flat surface, put a log on top and hit it with a sledgehammer. As a rule, just one blow is enough to split the log into two parts.
