If it is not possible to install a standard emery at home or in the apartment, but it is very necessary, you can assemble a miniature grinding machine from available materials at hand. The design is easy to operate and reliable. Moreover, such a home-made sharpening mini-machine will allow you to perform operations on grinding and polishing of metal and wooden workpieces.

Of the basic materials for making homemade emery, you will need: a nozzle-flange for installing the grinding and polishing wheel, housing bearings for fixing the support shaft. And you will also need the shaft itself with a length of 115 mm and a diameter of 8 mm, a large and small pulleys made of aluminum, an electric motor of the 775 series at 12V, rated at 3800 rpm.

The process of manufacturing a sharpening mini-machine

As a base for emery, we will use a plywood board with dimensions of 150x117 mm, from which we need to cut a piece of 85x35 mm on one side. You will also need two wooden blocks 15 mm thick with dimensions 55x25 mm and one block 82x36 mm. We put flanges and case bearings on the shaft, after which we fasten the assembled structure to wooden blocks that need to be screwed to the base.

We put a small pulley on the motor shaft, and then fasten the motor to a plywood sheet, using a metal mount in the form of a corner with holes for mounting. After that, we connect the large and small pulleys with a rubber belt. You will also need to install a speed controller and an electric motor enable button.

Then it remains only to make a protective case made of foil for the motor and bearings on the shaft, make a working table and put on grinding and polishing wheels. Now the home-made sharpening mini-machine is completely ready for work. See the detailed build process in the video on the site.
