If there is no air conditioning at home, and there is no desire to “drive” drafts through the rooms, then the fan will help to escape from the heat. And it’s not at all necessary to buy the device in the store - if you have the necessary materials and accessories, you can make a compact desktop USB fan with your own hands. It is very simple and does not take much time.

USB fan: milestones

To begin with, we make a fan impeller from an unnecessary DVD-ROM - first of all, we divide the disk into two parts using an office knife. Next, you need a plastic bottle cap, from which you will need to make a hub for the impeller. First, we make a small hole in the center of the lid, after which we cut out its inner part.

Glue the hub in the center of the disk, after which we make a marking and cut out the blades. Next, you need a DC motor with an operating voltage of 5 V and a speed of 1600 per minute.

You will also need a USB connector, which can be borrowed from an old computer mouse. We cut off the connector with the wire, we need the lengths, delete the information wires and leave only the power wires. then connect the power wires to the motor.

Making a USB fan case

To do this, you need a wooden blank of square section. First of all, we cut a part 12 cm long. Then, along one of the faces of the workpiece, we make a groove for laying wires, and also make a couple of mounting holes.

For the fan casing, you will need another small square blank, in the center of which we make a through hole. After that we connect a support and a vertical rack among themselves. We install the electric motor and fix the wires using electrical tape. At the end, we attach the fan blades to the motor shaft.
