One of the key stages of welding is the competent preparation of the working surface and the fixation of the welded workpieces in a specific position. This work, as a rule, requires increased attention and accuracy from the welder, since the quality of the weld will directly depend on this.

Welders who work alone often face a common situation when it is necessary to hold some workpiece or part, and there are not enough hands. In this case, a simple home-made tool is useful, which is also popularly called the "third hand" of the welder.

This home-made device will greatly facilitate the progress of welding. In particular, the "three-fingered" holder for welding will provide reliable fixation of the workpieces during the execution of precision work. And to make this tool with your own hands is very simple.

The process of manufacturing a "third hand" welder

To make this device, you will need a minimum of materials: a piece of round timber and three steel rods of suitable diameter and the same length. A round disc must be sanded, and the ends of the rods grind under a cone. Then we heat the rods around the edges by welding and bend them at an angle of 45-55 degrees.

Next, we weld two “fingers” to one edge of the ingot, and one to the other. We clean all welds and the "third hand" tool is ready for use. A very convenient thing, which is especially useful for novice welders. For a detailed process of making homemade products, see the video on the site.
