To make a homemade opener knife, you will need a medium-sized anchor bolt and a small wooden block from which the handle will be made. This simple device can be used as a knife (for example, cut off the skin or linoleum), as well as a regular opener to open the bottle.

For this homemade product, not the entire anchor bolt will be required, but only the “core” with thread and conical part, so you will need to remove the nut and washer and spacer sleeve. Then, with the help of a grinder, you need to grind the cone part from two sides.

Then the edge of the bolt must be cut off at an angle of about 45-55 degrees. We bring the workpiece to mind on an emery machine. In the upper part we make a triangular neckline - the same as on conventional openers. And again, we process it on emery to make the edges of the knife blade.

Making a wooden handle

After the main part of the home-made is done, you can begin to manufacture a wooden handle. To do this, take a block of suitable size and give it a rounded shape on a lathe. Alternatively, you can use a ready-made handle from an old tool (file and chisel).

In the center of the handle, you need to drill a hole of the desired diameter into which the threaded part of the bolt is then inserted (it must first be greased with glue). The handle itself is covered with stain, mineral oil or varnish.

Such a simple homemade handy in the country or in the garage, and at home. It can also be presented as an original gift. For a detailed process of making an opener knife from an anchor bolt, see the video on the website.
