In the home carpentry workshop or at the cottage, you can almost always find scraps of boards that seem to be unnecessary, but throwing them away is a pity.

That's just from such waste lumber, you can make an original stand for hot dishes. In any kitchen, such a thing is always useful.

To make the stand itself truly original and unusual, it is advisable to use blanks from different types of wood. It is necessary to achieve a pronounced contrast. For example, you can combine dark oak and light birch (or spruce).

The main stages of work

The first step is to cut the workpieces into one size (cut off excess on the circular, drive through the thicknesser). Then you need to glue the shield of the desired size, alternating dark and light bars. Clamp with clamps and leave for a while until the glue dries.

Next, the glued shield must be sawn into bars, align them and then glued again, exposing them in a checkerboard pattern.

Then the author mills the stand around the perimeter to give it a more aesthetic appearance. At the last stage of work, it remains only to treat the product with oil impregnation or wax.

In detail about how to make a cool stand for hot dishes with your own hands, you can see in this video. If you liked this homemade product, then write about it in the comments below.
