For convenience, some tools need to be magnetized. These are primarily screwdrivers used to tighten small screws. It happens, and vice versa, when it is better to demagnetize the tool so that metal chips do not stick to it. For all this, special devices are used - magnetizers (magnetizers) and demagnetizers (demagnetizers). They have a very simple design, so they can be made with their own hands.

Demagnetizer

To make it, you will need:
  • aluminum shaft or wooden handle;
  • 4 rare earth washer magnets;
  • plastic cover on the shaft;
  • Super glue;
  • tin.

From an aluminum shaft or a handle on a lathe you need to grind a fungus, as in the photo. In his hat, 4 holes are made for mounting and gluing magnets. Each adjacent magnet must be turned in the opposite direction in order to have a different polarity.

The fungus with magnets is closed with a plastic lid. It can be selected by diameter or machined on a machine.

The presence of a cork will facilitate the removal of ferrous metal chips adhering to the demagnetizer.

To use the device, you need to clamp it in a drilling machine or drill. It is important that the demagnetizer rotate. On the side of the plastic cover of the device, a tool is placed flat that needs to be demagnetized. It is held for a couple of seconds, after which it is slowly relegated to itself parallel to the plane of the cork. Since the tool lends itself to an alternating magnetic field from multidirectional magnets, it is demagnetized and no longer attracts metals to itself.

Additionally, for the device, you can cut a plate of tin. Leaning it against the cap of the fungus, you can shorten the magnetic field, which eliminates the need for cleaning the device from chips.

Magnetizer

To make a magnetizer you will need:
  • 2 magnets cylinders or a set of washer magnets;
  • steel bar or tire.

Existing magnets must be connected to a rod. Holders of ferrous metal join to its ends. They can be cut from tires, fittings or other scrap.

The principle of using a magnetizer is very simple. With both holders, he joins an instrument that needs magnetization. For magnetization, they must be left in a coupled form for several minutes or hours, which depends on the mass.

Both homemade appliances are cheap to manufacture and are often useful. They are trouble-free and effective, therefore, in many ways better than factory analogues.
