How and what to lubricate the shafts in the motor-scythe rod

Many new brush cutters, even sold assembled, do not have grease on the shaft of the boom. As a result, it heats up, wears out, a light whistling rattle is gradually added to the sound of a running motor and vibration appears. To protect the equipment from premature wear, it is enough to take 10 minutes and just grease the shaft.

Materials:

  • lubricant for CV joints preferably with molybdenum disulfide;
  • a cloth;
  • rubber gloves, if you wish, do not get your hands dirty.

Dismantling and lubrication

First you need to disassemble the bar. In a conventional brush cutter, for this it is enough to disconnect it from the upper and lower gears.

If the braid has a collapsible bar, consisting of two parts, then this is even easier. It is only necessary to remove the connector in the center and part the halves.

After disassembling, 2 shafts easily fall out, while the shaft cover can not be removed from the gearboxes.

If the scythe has already worked, then when inspecting the shaft, or shafts in the case of a collapsible bar, you can notice scuffs from the centering sleeves. Such places need lubrication.

Squeeze a small amount of grease onto a cloth or fingers and treat the shaft without gaps. It is applied with a thin layer, but everywhere. Particular attention should be paid to the slots, since they are subjected to the highest load, especially at the time of cutting the knife with braids on stones and other objects.

The greased shaft is inserted back into the headstock with easy scrolling. Due to this, part of the excess grease will remain on the centering bushings, where it should be. The rotation will also help the slots get into their seat on the gearboxes.

If a direct motokosa with a fixed bar is serviced, then it is simply attached back to the gearboxes. In the case of a two-piece bar, short shafts are each inserted in its own half. After that, the parts of the rod are joined in the center. If their slots did not fall, then you can simply twist the lower gear by hand. Next, the docked rod is clamped back by the sleeve.

With infrequent use of the brushcutter, such a rod maintenance should be carried out every season. The lubricant used for SHRUS can withstand high temperatures, which eliminates oil leakage during long work of the braid. The same composition can also be used to lubricate gearboxes. They can be pressed into them with a syringe, if the tube does not have a spout. The lubrication frequency of gearboxes is higher than the shaft. Typically, manufacturers recommend doing this every 5 hours.
