Original DIY key chains

Trinkets are now sold at every turn. Someone wears them with keys, someone with a remote control from the car, someone just on jeans, on a belt loop ... But it’s much more interesting to wear a do-it-yourself keychain on, say, the keys. Moreover, it is more pleasant that it exists only in a single copy. You can make a good and original keychain from almost everything that lies literally under your feet. I want to share in several ways. Since some of my trinkets have been around for a long time, and they have a finished look, I will try to describe in detail the process of their manufacture.

The first method is made of metal

You will need:
  • Waste skewer.
  • Aluminum wire, section 4-5 millimeters.
  • Aluminum (or copper, brass) tube, for example from an antenna.
  • File.
  • Emery machine.
  • Felt disk.
  • Paste GOI.
  • Thin strips of leather, or faux leather.
  • Seconds glue.

The keychain will be in the form of a miniature sword. With the scabbard.

So, for a start, prepare the foundation. Namely: we cut off a piece from the skewer, a length of ten centimeters. Next, with the help of an emery machine, we give it an approximate shape for the future sword - we sharpen it at one end, and cut a pin (1.5 - 2 cm) for the handle on the other. Now it is necessary to withdraw in the middle of the workpiece, along the groove along both sides.

I used salt water and a 12 volt power supply for this purpose, varnished the workpiece, removed the varnish in the right place with a ruler and a knife, tied the plus to the workpiece, lowered the minus and put the workpiece in the same water for ten minutes. Salt water and electricity corroded the areas I needed. But if you do not want to mess around, then you can carefully make the grooves with a cutting wheel, 1 mm thick. and a grinder. Now you have to work with a file. For the manufacture of skewers, usually use mild stainless and non-hardened steel. So it’s not difficult to bring out the cutting edge on the blade. Next, cut a piece of 1.5 mm from the wire. Slightly flatten it, drill a hole in the middle, attach the desired shape with a file and put the resulting guard on the pin.

Now we cut off a thin tube 3-4 mm shorter than the remaining pin, put this tube on it, slightly flatten it so that it takes an oval shape, and drop a second glue into the tube so that the guard and the tube handle stick to the pin. We attach some bead or a turned piece of metal to the remaining tip of the pin, also, using second glue.

We will make the scabbard from a brass tube from a broken antenna. We flatten the tube of suitable diameter, sharpen one end, under the edge of the sword, glue (or solder) the edges of the resulting triangular point.

We glue (or solder) the eyelet for the ring and wrap the resulting scabbard with a strip of leather in any combination you like.

It remains to process everything with goy paste on felt. The keychain is ready.

Second option: cartridge container for oil perfumes

You will need:
  • Cartridge case 7.62 × 51
  • The threads are internal and external, with a diameter of the inner diameter of the sleeve.
  • Soldering iron, tin and flux.
  • A piece of brass for the bullet cover.
  • Flat Neodymium Magnets 2 pcs.
  • Seconds glue.

To begin, saw off the neck of the sleeve. Saw off should be the bell itself. So, sawed off the sleeve of the sleeve, now you need to adjust the internal thread to the outlet of the sleeve. To do this, we wind the thread onto the pencil and, evenly rotating the pencil, remove the outer layer of metal on the emery to the required diameter. In general, we make the internal thread fit into the sleeve. Next, we process the thread and the inner surface of the sleeve with flux, insert the thread inside the sleeve, align the edges, heat the sleeve with a soldering iron and solder the internal thread to the sleeve.

When the metal of the sleeve reaches the desired temperature, it is enough just to touch the solder to the right place and it will creep into all, even the thinnest gaps. Now make a cover-bullet. To do this, from any suitable piece of copper or brass, cut out a cone on the emery, similar to a bullet suitable in caliber to a sleeve. Solder the external thread to the pool. Inside the thread on the pool we glue the cork from the flask of oil perfume.

We close the resulting cork perfume. Putting the container with the cone together.

Now we stick one of the magnets to the sleeve of the sleeve, and the second to the chain (or lace) with the ring.

Such a keychain really like the female half.

The third option is not so time consuming: stone arrowhead

Finding flint is a simple task. This mineral is most often found on the banks of rivers, as well as in pine forests.

If it was not possible to find flint, it does not matter; you can take any, similar in structure, pebble. Of course, we will not chip away pieces from him in order to give him the necessary shape, as primitive people did, especially since with the tiny sizes we need, it is almost impossible. In our technological age, there will be easier ways to get the desired result.
You will need:
  • Hammer.
  • Emery machine.
  • Bor-machine.
  • Clear nail polish.
  • Drill and drill for 3 mm.

So, first we will break off a piece of stone, more or less similar to a plate. Now, with the help of an emery machine, with a thin cutting disc, we give the stone approximate shape of the tip.

Next, you need a boron machine, with which we grind pieces from a stone plate in the form of chips. In a mess. In general, we give the appearance of a stone tip.

Next, we drill a hole in the tip with a 3 mm drill. Well, in the end, cover the tip with a clear varnish and thread an iron ring or kapron thread into the hole.

Done.
There are many more options and types of homemade trinkets. For example, a flash drive disguised as a lighter, or a bracelet made of cartridges (although this is probably more of an ornament than a key chain ...) Any of these key rings, due to their uniqueness and originality, will decorate your keys, jeans or remote control from the car alarm.
