Samsung i9190 Galaxy s4 mini was chosen as the “experimental” phone. The device cracked the glass, which has not yet been replaced. To protect the screen from dust and moisture, as well as from further cracking, it was decided to temporarily stick a protective glass on the phone. Glass has a number of advantages over glass:
• the ability to protect the glass of the device from cracking when the display falls down;
• scratch resistance;
• ease of sticking;
• excellent fixation with the screen;
• esthetic appearance.
Workplace preparation
Glass in order to save money was ordered on one of the Chinese sites. Two napkins came with it in individual packages:
1. wet, with a cleaning and degreasing impregnation;
2. Dry non-woven.
In the absence of such napkins in the kit, they can be replaced with a regular alcohol napkin (or a cotton pad soaked in vodka or alcohol) and a microfiber cloth. Transparent adhesive tape may also be required to remove tiny fibers from the screen.
The workplace should be solid (for example, a kitchen table) and well-lit. Otherwise, dust and stains may go unnoticed when gluing glass.

Phone glass preparation
1. Wash your hands to prevent accidentally leaving greasy fingerprints on the glass and phone.
2. If there is a protective film on the phone, remove it.
3. Take an alcohol napkin (in our case it is a napkin from bag No. 1) and process centimeter by centimeter the entire screen of the phone without missing a single spot.
4. Take a microfiber cloth (we used a tiny rag from bag No. 2) and wipe the glass dry.
5. Look at the phone in the light: are there any untreated areas, dust particles or villi on it. If such are noticed, they can be removed using the sticky side of ordinary transparent tape, followed by microfiber treatment.

Glass sticking
• The glass on one side has a protective film, which, pulling the tab, must be removed before gluing. Glass must always be held on the sides so as not to leave marks on it.
• Having freed from the film, the glass with this side should be brought to the phone screen, aligning it as much as possible along the edges of the display, buttons and dynamics.
• After making sure that all reference points are observed and that the glass is aligned at the edges, lower it onto the screen. Silicone coating protects self-adhesive glass.
• If there are islands of air under the glass, remove them with a cloth by smoothing them using an adhesive protection.
