Main materials

To make a GPS tracker, you first need to buy some components. First of all, it is a compact GPS module, which is combined with the GLONASS navigation system and has RX and TX pins.
You will also need to purchase a special OPENLOG logging module (preferably already with firmware), which allows you to write information to log files.

The power source for the GPS tracker is a lithium-ion rechargeable battery of 300 mAh and above, and a charging and protection module (for example, TP4056 series) will also need to be purchased for it.

Alternatively, you can also use rechargeable "banks" 18650, but the dimensions of the device itself will be larger.

To store information you will need a microSD memory card. To upgrade and configure the OPENLOG logging module if necessary, you will additionally need to purchase a USBTTL converter.

Manufacturing process

First you need to make a plastic case that is suitable in size. Then it is necessary to solder all the main electronic elements of the device (GPS module, logging module, battery, charging and protective module and power button) to each other.

All modules must be carefully placed in the housing and additionally fixed with hot-melt adhesive so that they do not hang out while the vehicle is moving. Four neodymium magnets must be glued to the bottom of the body, with which the device will be attached to the body or frame of the vehicle.
