With the help of this home-made bar, you can edit not only planer knives and chisels, but also other carpentry tools. In general, a thing is very useful in the household, and you can do it yourself in literally 5-10 minutes.

The main stages of work

As the main material, a block of plywood 22x8 cm with a thickness of 24 mm is used. If desired, the dimensions can be made different. Actually, the work ahead is simple - first you need to prepare a bar of suitable size, and then you need to glue a piece of leather 3 mm thick using wood glue.

Please note that the skin itself needs to be glued with the wrong side, so it is advisable to clean the smooth face of the leather patch with a little sandpaper so that it sticks better to the plywood. By the way, instead of wood glue, you can use liquid nails (but, in principle, the glue also holds normally).

Glue the skin to the plywood bar, then press the clamps on a flat surface - in this case, an aluminum profile is used, to which a piece of thick glass is glued. Since a piece of skin was taken with a margin, then after gluing, the first thing we cut off is all the protruding parts.

Finishing touch

A piece of rubber anti-slip rug is attached to the bottom side of the bar with brackets (you can buy it in almost any car shop) so that the bar does not “walk” on the table surface during tool sharpening.
