In a private house or in a summer cottage, you often have to deal with the connection of an irrigation hose to a pipe or tap. This is usually done very simply: put on the hose tightly, tighten it with a hose clamp, and then you can turn on the water.

However, sometimes there are no clamps of the required diameter at hand, and then you have to tighten with wire. It is not possible to tighten the wire clamp with ordinary pliers, it is better to make a simple clamp from an old flat screwdriver.

The main stages of work

To make a simple DIY clamp for twisting wire clips from steel or aluminum wire, an old flat screwdriver is suitable. If there is a lot of rust, we clean the surface with a grinder with a petal grinding wheel.

Then, at the end of a flat-blade screwdriver, it is necessary to mark two points with a marker - in these places with the help of a power electric drill or on a drilling machine it will be necessary to drill two through holes for tightening the wire. When drilling holes, it is very important not to overheat the metal.

To work with such a homemade clamp is simple - we install a wire clamp, insert the ends of the wire into the holes in the screwdriver, and then twist the wire clockwise.

Whether such a clamp is useful on the farm or not is up to you. We just told one of the ways to "reuse" the old tool. The process of manufacturing a home-made collar, see the video on the site.
