The process of copper plating allows you to give the blade of an old knife an original appearance - this is done mainly for decorative purposes. The first step is to clean the surface of the metal with the help of a petal wheel. This is especially important if the knife is rusty so that the copper layer lies evenly.

Clamp the knife in a vice or fix the clamp to the table and clean the surface of the blade from both sides with an angle grinder. At the same time, you can refresh the blade sharpening. Then you will need to find a car battery or a powerful power supply.

How is the process of copper plating a knife blade

We connect the blade to the "minus" of the car battery, and a piece of a copper tube to the "positive" contact. Then we put a clean cotton disk on this piece of copper tube and rewind it with ordinary threads so that it does not slip.

Next, we moisten the cotton pad in the electrolyte and in a circular motion we process the surface of the knife blade. After that, change the cotton pad to a new one, and impregnate the other side of the blade. Then we neutralize the acid, and the copper knife is ready.

Once again, it should be noted that the copper plating of the knife is performed exclusively for decorative purposes, for example, to present it as an original souvenir. This technology can be useful to those who are engaged in the manufacture of miniature models of knives from bolts and other materials.
