What materials are not used today for the "home" production of knives: springs, metal strips, files. One option is to use part of a pipe wrench. You can make a cool knife from such a blank.

To make the blade with your own hands, you will need a part of the pipe (gas) key with a straight clamping jaw at 90 degrees. This is a classic straight pipe wrench.

To make such a cool knife, you need a blacksmith anvil with a hammer, as well as a heat treatment furnace in which you can heat the workpiece. First of all, we heat the element of the pipe wrench red-hot, after which we give it the necessary shape on the anvil.

The main stages of work

After giving the workpiece the desired shape (this process is not quick, but the result is worth it), we proceed to the mechanical processing of the blade. Wet it in water and grind it. First we go through the edge, then the plane. We make descents on the blade.

At the next stage of work, it is necessary to harden the knife according to classical technology: that is, we heat the blade red-hot, and then lower it into oil. You only need to heat the blade - you do not need a handle.

After hardening, we perform final grinding and sharpening of the blade. There is no need to make wooden plates - the blade already looks just fine. Details on how to make a cool knife from an old pipe wrench with your own hands can be found in the video on the website.
