In the manufacture of chests, drawers and other homemade items, it is often required to use latches that secure the hinged lid or door. If at the right time there are no latches at hand, then you can get out of the situation by making homemade locks.

To make a latch lock, you will need simple and inexpensive materials at hand, which can be found in every workshop without problems.

To make one lock, the author uses a bolt, a pair of nuts, a piece of studs, a washer, pieces of a steel plate, and a wing nut.

The first thing to do with the bolt is to cut off the hat. Then the master cuts the metal rod of suitable diameter into the pieces necessary. Next, you need to weld a T-shaped part - the main element of homemade work.

Step-by-step latch lock manufacturing process

On both sides of the steel round bar, which is welded on top, two ordinary nuts are put on. They will need to be welded to a piece of the plate. And then the plate needs to be cut to size.

Next, in the plate, two mounting holes must be drilled for fastening to the product using self-tapping screws. In addition, it is necessary to cut another plate, and make a selection under it for a bolt.

When all the main parts of the homemade product are made, you can proceed to install the lock. This is done elementarily and quickly. A more detailed process of making a do-it-yourself latch lock can be found in the video on the website.
