If you are going to equip a home workshop or just prepare a workbench for work, then you may need different devices. Moreover, some of them can be done independently.
Small bench vice can be used for work with small workpieces. And you can make them yourself from improvised materials.
To make a mini vise for the home workshop and garage, you will need a bolt with nuts, plates, a profile and pieces of metal. You can see the necessary blanks in the photo below.
The main stages of work
We drill two holes in a steel plate. Then you need to weld a piece of metal to it, to which two nuts are welded.
Next, we weld a piece of profile to the base (in it you need to make a cut along the entire length of the workpiece). Then grind the welds.
To the end of the profiled profile, the author welds a piece of the plate in which to drill a hole. Then two more pieces of metal should be welded to the profile (a thick plate should be welded to them).
At the next stage, the same two pieces of metal with a plate must be welded to the profile, which is welded to the base. Thus, the clamping jaws of the vise were obtained.
Inside the profiled profile with a clamping sponge, the author installs a long bolt with a spring, and makes a winch.
Then it remains only to polish all the details and assemble to check the performance. If everything works fine, disassemble, paint everything and then reassemble.
