The vertical planting of our usual garden crops has just begun to gain popularity. After all, this not only saves space, but also decorates the garden.

Red strawberries look very decorative in vertical plantings. Such a crop is easy to collect and protect from pests.

In this review, the author tells and shows how to plant bushes in this unusual way.

You can buy pots for vertical planting in any garden store. The first step, of course, will be the preparation of the land.

It is necessary to mix soil, sand and coconut substrate. Strawberries love loose soil, for this, add sawdust. Since the earth dries faster in flowerpots than in ordinary beds, a bit of expanded clay at the bottom will help retain moisture.

In a small amount, add vermiculite and perlite. Also fertilize the soil for strawberries with vermicompost to increase its fertility.

Such a complex composition will provide you with a good harvest and quick survival of bushes. Now you can transplant from open ground.

Try not to deepen the plant too much, otherwise the stem may rot. Broken, dried or yellowed leaves must be removed.

The main stages of work

The next step will be to water the planting. The earth will sink a little from the water, so you’ll have to add a little more earth from above.

Now you can install the second floor. It is better to plant pots as they are assembled. Otherwise, you risk damaging the strawberry bushes when you collect the entire structure.

Thus, having collected even a small five-tier structure, you will already bear 15 bushes.

However, an important nuance is that the vertical bed has a shadow side. So you have to seriously consider its location. Or, if there is such an opportunity, turn once every few days.

Depending on the weather and soil structure, at first you will have to experimentally determine the frequency of irrigation.

It is better to pay attention to pots with drainage holes, so as not to pour strawberries. Harvest from such a compact beautiful garden will delight you even in the garden, even on the balcony.
