Laying a new linoleum on top of the old is not that hopelessness, but rather, one of the ways of budget updating the flooring in an apartment or private house.

This method has 2 important advantages. Firstly, you do not need to spend time and energy on dismantling the old linoleum. Secondly, there is no need to perform foundation preparation (screed repair, etc.).

Well and one more positive moment - the double floor covering will turn out softer. It is also an additional "bonus" to heat and sound insulation.

The main stages of work

First of all, under the old linoleum, it will be necessary to sweep everything well, and it is better to remove the garbage with a vacuum cleaner.

After such preparation, you can start laying new linoleum on top of the old. We cut off the excess and always leave the temperature gap (about 1 cm).

This is necessary so that linoleum can freely lie on the base and does not rest anywhere. On the new linoleum on the back there is a marking, which makes it easier to trim.

Linoleum is brought close to the wardrobes. It is only necessary to perform pruning in those places where part of the furniture comes forward.

After the new linoleum has been laid, it needs to be allowed to rest for several days so that it smoothes out. That's all the subtleties.
