In this review, the author tells how you can make a simple template for inserting furniture hinges with a diameter of 35 millimeters. The template is intended for a manual milling cutter with an installed mill with a diameter of 10 millimeters.
In the milling cutter there is a platform with a copy sleeve. The diameter of the outer copy sleeve is 16 millimeters. That is, the difference between the cutter and the sleeve is 6 millimeters.
The first step is to cut the workpiece 200 millimeters long and 120 millimeters wide. Also, for the manufacture of the template you will need an emphasis made of plywood.
We fasten the emphasis from plywood to the plank. After that, it will be necessary to drill a through hole in the center of the workpiece for the milling copy sleeve.
In this case, the hole should be 6 millimeters larger than the diameter of the furniture loop. That is, in this case, we will need to drill a hole with a diameter of 41 mm.
The main stages of work
The biggest difficulty is precisely cutting a circle with a diameter of 41 mm in the workpiece. The author uses for this the simplest home-made compass for the milling cutter.
The sequence of actions is as follows: first you will need to tighten the side stop, then precisely mark the center of the hole and cut it out using a makeshift compass and milling cutter.
We make the marking and drill the workpiece through hole with a drill with a diameter of 1.5 mm. Thus, we got a centering hole. Next, we cut out the hole with a milling cutter.
Please note that the author deliberately cut a workpiece 200 mm long so that it was exactly 100 mm to the center.
Thus, you can not mark the facades under the hinges, but immediately combine them with the corner of the door, fix and cut a hole for the furniture hinge.
