To clean the metal from rust and old paint, metal brushes are used. They can be installed on a grinder or electric drill.

When these brushes are new, there are no complaints about their work - they do their job perfectly.

However, over time (especially if you have to work with them very often), brushes clean metal much worse.

Why brushes do not clean metal

The fact is that the brushes are made of steel cables, which, in turn, are woven from thin wires.

After a certain time, these very delays simply “lick” and practically no longer clean the metal, but simply slide over it.

In such a situation, they are simply put aside or thrown away, and buy new ones. However, do not rush to spend money in vain, because you can restore the abrasive properties of old brushes.

The main stages of work

In order to improve the cleaning properties of metal brushes, you will need any old whetstone.

Then we set the brushes on the grinder or electric drill, and just clean the grindstone.

Thus, the ends of the wires are sharpened (become sharper), and the brush starts working normally again after this procedure.
