In this review, the author shares the idea of how to make very strong weaving with your own hands from plastic tapes cut from PET bottles.

To cut the tape of the desired width from the bottles, you will need a bottle cutter. This device can be made independently from improvised materials.

We recommend reading: how to make an adjustable bottle cutter for plastic bottles with your own hands.

Plastic tapes can be used in the same color or in several colors. This is at your discretion.

The main stages of work

First of all, take a strip, make a curl and begin to wind the ribbon.

With a tape width of 9 mm, we wind it up until the wall thickness is about 4.5 mm, and tighten it.

The end of the tape should fit freely inside this ring. If the ring is wider than necessary, then just tighten it and constantly check.

The gap between the tape and the inner wall of the ring should be approximately 1-1.5 mm.

After the first link is ready, you need to fix the tape with a needle. To do this, take the needle, hold it with your finger and heat the tip, then simply stretch it under the tape.

The excess edge must be cut with scissors. Next, take the second tape and thread its edge into the first link. And then we skip the entire tape until you get a ring.

The tape will need to be fixed with a needle in the same way as in the first case.

For the next rings, such an operation is no longer necessary; the main thing is to fix only the first two rings - starting from the third ring, each link is clamped as if by itself.

When the chain of links is woven, we tighten the edges of the ribbons and cut off all the excess. Then you can do shrink. This operation will require a building hair dryer.
