The service life of some pans is quite limited: some fail after a year and a half of use. To get rid of the received kitchen utensils, not everyone raises a hand. Take your time to throw out pans that you no longer use - they can be used as the original frame for the mirror. An unusual mirror will decorate the interior, and if you have several of these pans, you can make them a composition.
Preparation of materials
- An old skillet of any size.
- A round mirror with a diameter slightly smaller than the pan.
- Sandpaper.
- Wire.
- Primer spray.
- Black paint in a spray can.
- Silicone in the gun.
- Drill.
- Angle grinder (grinder).
- Pliers.
Grinding
The surface of the old skillet will most likely be very uneven. To make it smooth, use sandpaper. Pay particular attention to the places where the paint will be applied. If you apply the paint on an uneven surface, it will not smooth it, as you might think, but will emphasize the roughness, which will worsen the appearance of the product.
Holes
First you need to separate the handle from the pan. To do this, put the pan on the floor and ask someone to step on it while you cut the handle with a grinder. If you have a pan with a removable handle, you can skip this step. You will find two holes in the mounting location.
Measure the distance between these holes and make marks at the same distance from each other on the opposite edge of the pan.
Drill two more holes in the marked areas with a drill. In this case, it is necessary to fix the pan very well. It turned out only four holes: two on one side and two opposite.
Wire
Cut two pieces of wire (approximately 40 cm each).
Pass one end through the first hole and further through the adjacent one so that both ends are close to the outside. The middle of the wire should be inside the pan.
To fix the wire, twist the ends into one spiral, it will be stronger and thicker.
Do the same with the second piece of wire on the other side.
Mount
Measure the distance from where the frying pan will be located to the wall mount on which you plan to hang it. Make a loop from all four ends of the wire and fasten with one of them, tying it around.
Cut the excess wire.
Painting
Apply a primer to the pan and wire and allow to dry in accordance with the instructions on the package. The primer protects the surface from external influences, makes the result of painting more durable.
Then cover the pan and wire with black paint from a spray can in two layers. Black color is the most universal, however you can choose your own if you have a good idea of how it will look in the interior. The inside of the pan, where the mirror will be attached, is not necessary to paint. Let the paint dry completely.
Glue the mirror
Apply silicone to the inside of the pan and to the back of the mirror. It is better not to use liquid nails, as in some cases they can damage the amalgam of the mirrors. Silicone is moisture resistant and is suitable even if you decide to hang a mirror, for example, in the bathroom.
Place the mirror in the center of the pan and press firmly.
It takes about 4 hours for the product to completely dry.
Done!
You can hang the original mirror wherever you like, or even give it to someone. Now you know what to do with old pans!
