Gift wrap

Sometimes the originality of a gift does not depend on the gift itself, but on its packaging. You can, for example, buy a couple of candles or a small towel with a symbol of the coming new year. Such gifts are relatively cheap, but quite practical. However, their simplicity does not bribe. What to do? The answer is simple: beautifully pack! And make packaging from what is ...

Materials for work:

  • Cardboard jar of chips - 1 pc.;
  • "Cold welding" - 1 pc;
  • Self-tapping screw - 1 pc;
  • Decoupage napkins - 1 pc;
  • White gouache, silver gouache, protein brush, PVA glue, craquelure varnish, acrylic, dishwashing sponge, gray friable eyeshadow.

Stages of the work:

The first stage: preparing the basis.

Degrease a jar with any alcohol or soapy solution.

We cover the entire surface with several layers of white gouache paint (so that the label pattern does not shine through).

Dry each layer thoroughly.

The second stage: decoupage.

Separate multi-layer decoupage napkins (taking away extra layers) and cut out the desired motif.

We apply the tenderloin to the jar and carefully apply PVA glue to the surface of the tenderloin, smoothing all the folds and squeezing out the extra air bubbles.

Dry the resulting beauty.

The third stage: decorate the surface of the jar.
We take the silver paint and use the sponge to “pop out” the whole jar, trying not to touch the edges of the decoupage cut.

We apply a couple of layers of silver paint, so that the tinting turns out uniform, without stains and thick spots.

The fourth stage: craquelure clippings.

On the surface of the decoupage cut, apply a thick layer of craquelure varnish (always move the brush in one direction).

We are waiting for the complete drying of the varnish and the formation of small cracks.

To shade the cracks we use dark gray eyeshadows, filling them with the grooves of the cracks.

Using a damp soft sponge (without pressing on it), remove excess shadows (falling into places near the cracks).

The result is an aged drawing.

Fifth stage: cover decor.

On the inside, “cover” the cover with silver paint using a soft sponge.

Knead "cold welding" to an even soft mass.

We screw a short self-tapping screw into the lid so that its tip extends to the front side. We hide the self-tapping screw under the strip of "cold welding".

Add a few flattened strips of "cold welding", simulating a flower.

After drying the welding, carefully, trying not to touch the lid itself, paint the surface of the flower with white gouache.

The edges of each “petal” are tinted with red strokes (by applying smooth strokes along the edges and torn on the leaves).

We cover with a few layers of acrylic varnish a flower (carefully lubricating the inside of the petals), a jar (including a decoupage cut) and the inner surface of the lid (pre-tinted with a silver head of a self-tapping screw).

So the original packaging is ready for a completely non-original gift.

Even if the gift is not very welcome, the packaging will definitely attract attention and take its rightful place in the interior of the donee.
